Fundamental magnetism

Baenitz, Brando, Rosner, Hicks, Mackenzie, Oka, Nicklas and Geibel groups, in collaboration with Sichelschmidt and B. Schmidt

The fundamentally quantum mechanical phenomenon of magnetism is one of the oldest fields in all of the physics of solids, but it continues to surprise and delight. We believe we are making pivotal contributions to topics as diverse as the understanding of giant Rashba splitting of special surface states, the investigation of spin liquids and spin-1/2 Cu2+ compounds and the discovery of record levels of diamagnetism in an exotic current-induced metallic state in Ca2RuO4  ….
