Magnetic Form factors for Neutrons

Using the program formfactor the magnetic formfactors for neutrons can be evaluated. Neutron form factors are a function of the scattering vector $\mathbf Q$ and expressed in terms of expectation values of spherical Bessel functions $j_l(\vert\mathbf Q\vert r)$ defined as

Here $R(r)$ is the radial part of the single electron wave function in the atom. In dipolar approximation (small $\vert Q\vert$) the form factors are given by the simple expression

The $\langle j_l(\vert\mathbf Q\vert) \rangle$ are used in modules mcdiff and mcdisp to calculate the neutron scattering cross section. In order to do this task, the single ion property files have to contain information on the different $\langle j_l(\vert\mathbf Q\vert) \rangle$ for $l=0,2,4,6$. If the sipf file contains a radial wave function, then this is used to calculate $\langle j_l(\vert\mathbf Q\vert) \rangle$. If no radial wavefunction is given, then coefficients as outlined below may be given to calculate the formfactor. For the most common magnetic ions the expression (215) has been calculated and expressed by coefficients of an expansion in exponential functions:
