Surface Properties of CeB6 and Challenges in Surface Preparation Revealed by Scanning Tunneling Microscopy
Should we perhaps take an even more critical look at measurements using surface-specific methods on well-studied “classical” quantum systems? This is the question—which could almost be described as provocative—posed at the end of a review published in “Advanced Science News.” The review focused on the paper “Surface Properties of CeB6 and Challenges in Surface Preparation Revealed by Scanning Tunneling Microscopy,” which was recently published in “Advanced Physics Research.”
Steffen Wirth of the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids is the coordinator of the international team of scientists and the lead author of the original paper. He comments: “I could not have presented the implications of our research findings on cubic hexaboride (CeB₆) more clearly to interested readers. That is why we are happy to refer readers to the English-language review ”CeB₆ surface reconstructions force a rethink of bulk electronic behavior”.
