ICM 2018 Best Poster Award Recipients
The joint meeting of the 21st International Conference on Magnetism (ICM) and the International Conference on Strongly Correlated Electron Systems (SCES) took place from July 15th to July 20th in San Francisco, USA. More than 2000 participants from all over the world have come together to discuss both fundamental and applied aspects of magnetism and magnetic materials.
The program of the International Conference on Magnetism consisted of plenary lectures, invited and contributed talks, as well as poster presentations. The poster contributions comprised the largest part of the program, with over 1200 participants spread across 8 different poster sessions over 5 days of the conference. At each of the eight poster sessions, judges selected the best poster in each topic area. This selection was based on the level of research, quality of the poster, as well as the clarity of the presentation.
We are very pleased to announce that among participants from the MPI CPfS, three young scientists were awarded the best poster prize. Dr. Eteri Svanidze received the prize in the “Heavy Fermions: Novel Materials” session, Dr. Andrea Amorese received the prize in the “Kondo Insulators and Kondo Semimetals” session, while Maja Bachmann received the prize in the “Heavy Fermions: Theory and Experiment” session.
Dr. Eteri Svanidze from the department of the Chemical Metals Science presented “Novel Heavy-Fermion Compound U11Hg45”. Dr. Andrea Amorese from the department Physics of Correlated Matter presented “Low energy excitations of the topological non-trivial Kondo insulators CeRu4Sn6 and SmB6: A High Resolution Resonant Inelastic Soft X-ray Scattering (RIXS) Study”. Maja Bachmann, from the Max Planck research group Microstructured Quantum Matter, presented “Micro-structuring the Ce(Co, Rh, Ir)In5 Heavy Fermion Family”. All of the posters presented innovative experimental research, the importance of which was recognized by the international condensed matter community. We congratulate all three of them on their success.
