Functional Oxides
The Functional Oxides group involves members from both, the Solid State Chemistry and the Physics of Correlated Matter departments. Our aim is to combine the broad expertise on rational materials design and electronic structure available in the two departments with advanced chemical synthesis methods for preparing and optimizing known and novel oxide based compounds. In the focus are electronically correlated oxides with unusual electronic and magnetic states, as occurring for instance in high oxidation state transition metal oxides or in open-shell anion p electron systems, as well as functional metal oxides like rare-earth-free hard magnets, spintronic materials, multiferroics, oxides with topological spin textures, topological insulators, and superconductors.
