Poster award for Dr. Roman Gumeniuk at the Journees des Actinides

The price for the contribution of R. Gumeniuk, W. Schnelle, U. Burkhardt and A. Leithe-Jasper emphasizes the importance of a systematic search for new intermetallic actinide-based compounds.
The chemical physics of intermetallic structure types stabilized by elements of small atomic size is studied in the LHS laboratory of the MPI CPfS. Analysis of the electronic structure together with the underlying chemical bonding scenarios helps to understand differences in structural stability compared with common systems like Laves phases.
