Obituary for Christoph Klausnitzer
In silent mourning, we bid farewell to our esteemed colleague Christoph Klausnitzer, who died suddenly and unexpectedly on 16 April 2020. Christoph had been working in our institute as a technical assistant in physics for almost 20 years.
We all knew Christoph as a committed, reliable and ever helpful colleague. Christoph moved to the then newly founded MPI for Chemical Physics of Solids immediately after his training. We still clearly remember our first encounters with him. He was highly motivated and full of curiosity and commitment, qualities that did not dim at all over the years. In addition, he was incredibly persistent when it came to solving apparatus problems. Many colleagues, as well as guest scientists, can confirm that thanks to Christoph, the measurement finally ran smoothly after all, and in the end there was a nice set of data.
Christoph was a nature-loving and sports-loving person. He went jogging and cycling with colleagues, was part of the MPI dragon boat crew and a busy user of the MPI volleyball court.
We all will miss Christoph terribly, and keep our fond memories of him.
Our deepest sympathy goes to his partner, his family and his relatives.
