Eight MPI CPfS teams take part in Dresden's super run

Dresden's Super Run - fun, excitement and a bit of suffering. This is how one of the local newspapers headlined its report on the Rewe Team Challenge Dresden 2024. And this is probably exactly how the runners from the MPI CPfS felt about this 5 km race - although the good mood clearly prevailed...

Among the 28,000 registered participants - a record for Dresden - there were also 32 runners from the MPI CPfS. Another participation record for the institute. Divided into women's, mixed and men's teams of four, they started in the penultimate starting wave at 7.30 pm and had a famous fellow runner with them. Waving cheerfully and recording a video with a cell phone, the attentive observer along the course was able to spot the recent bronze medal winner in the 3000m steeplechase among the runners. The small crowd of fans, consisting of colleagues from the MPI CPfS, friends and relatives, on the other hand, only had eyes for "their" runners and cheered on each of the team members in their white and green shirts along the course - if they could be spotted among the many, many colorfully dressed fellow runners. What's more, many of our runners were running very fast, so there was far too little time to cheer them on (and take photos).

After 5 km, the red carpet was rolled out at the Dynamo-Stadion, officially the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion, which is named after a famous runner, and the finish line was reached. Overjoyed and with a smile on everyone's face, the finishers met for a group photo on the "holy" green turf. Each of them with a medal around their neck. A short time later, the online results lists were searched for names and personal times so that everyone could be happy (or annoyed?) and discuss them with the other members over an isotonic drink.
