Election of Professor Felser to IEEE Fellow

    December 07, 2015

At its November 2015 meeting the Board of Directors of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) elevated Professor Claudia Felser to an IEEE Fellow starting from January 2016. Each year, following a rigorous evaluation procedure, the IEEE Fellow Committee recommends a selected group of recipients for elevation to an IEEE Fellow, only less than 0.1% of the voting members are selected. According to the committee’s citation, Professor Felser was selected "for [her] contributions to the design and chemical synthesis of new materials with multi-functional properties".

The IEEE is dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence. In 2015, it has about 430,000 members in about 160 countries. IEEE's constitution defines the purposes of the organization as "scientific and educational, directed toward the advancement of the theory and practice of Electrical, Electronics, Communications and Computer Engineering, as well as Computer Science, the allied branches of engineering and the related arts and sciences." In pursuing these goals, the IEEE serves as a major publisher of scientific journals and organizer of conferences, workshops, and symposia.
